Rational

Hybrid technology continues to evolve as consumers demand more from these alternative energy vehicles. Hybrid vehicles exist to improve fuel efficiency. Hybrid vehicles have 2 sources of power under the hood: a conventional gas combustion engine as well as an electric motor. This course will address the needs of the participants to build a solid technical background in-vehicle hybrid technology.

Synopsis

This module introduces concept and design architecture of hybrid vehicles. Participants will be exposed to hybrid system such as series hybrid, parallel hybrid and series parallel hybrid. Participants will also learn about all hybrid vehicle components as well as it electrical storage devices. At the end of this course participants will able to troubleshoot various system’s output and carry out rectification according to manufacturer’s requirement.

Learning Outcome

  1. Describe the functionally of all hybrid systems and components according to its design architecture.
  2. Test and measure all components output related to hybrid system’s performance to ensure parameter reading within operating range
  3. Verify the performance of switches, sensors, actuators of the engine management system
  4. Verify the performance of motor-generator and its components according to operational parameters as per manufacturer’s specifications.
  5. Perform troubleshooting for various system’s outputs and carry out rectification according to manufacturer’s requirement.
